Bronze for Ireland at Celtic Cup 2014
Following a tough trial process, two of Old Bawn’s top gymnasts, Katie O’Hara and Shauna Kelly were selected to represent the Republic of Ireland for this years Celtic Cup International Competition. Katie formed part of the Junior team (under 15) and Shauna part of the Minor team (under 13).
The competition took place in Perth, Scotland on 25th and 26th April. Both girls had a fantastic competition with Katie achieving personal best scores on bars, vault and All Around, and Shauna achieving personal best scores on floor and vault.
Along with the fantastic personal achievements, the minor team also claimed the bronze medal for team Rep. of Ireland. We are very proud of both of the girls!!!
Irish National Finals – Limerick
The weekend of 5th/6th April saw one of the largest events of the Gymnastics Ireland calendar take place in Limerick University. The Irish National Finals for the levels regional teams and apparatus competition took place along with the Women’s and Men’s Artistic FIG all around and apparatus finals.
Old Bawn was represented by a total of 35 gymnasts who had some really great performances.

Regional Level 2-9 Teams & Apparatus 2014
The South Dublin regional Level 2-9 & plus levels Teams and Apparatus competition took place on the weekend of 1st and 2nd March in Shoreline Leisure Centre. Old Bawn had a total number of 53 competitors take part in the event. The club had a fantastic weekend bringing home a total of 7 team medals (3 Gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) and over 50 individual apparatus medals. All of the individual medalists will compete at the National Finals in Limerick on 5th/

The club will be holding a fundraising quiz night on SATURDAY 29th MARCH in Scholars Pub, Firhouse at 8pm.

WAG National All Around finals
Well done to the 8 gymnasts who represented Old Bawn at the Irish National All Around level 2-9 finals last weekend. The girls performed excellently and made us very proud. We are also delighted to have taken home two medals at level 7.

Our next big competition will be the Regional Individual Apparatus and Teams Competition on 1st and 2nd March.
Mens Spring Challenge 2014
7 gymnasts from our boys squad competed at the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) Spring Challenge on 2nd February.
The boys had a great competition and we are delighted to announce the following results for the club:
Niall Moran – level 2 under 10 – GOLD
Oisin Delaney – level 4 under 12 – BRONZE
Ciaran Fitzgerald – level 4 over 12 – GOLD

Regional Level 2-9 All Around Competition
On 25th and 26th January we had 18 of our gymnasts take part in the South Dublin Regional Level 2-9 All Around Competition. The girls did great and we came away with a number of medals as follows.
Level 3 under 9 – Sarah Brennan SILVER, Emily Mulhall BRONZE
Level 3 under 11 – Saoirse Morgan GOLD
Level 5 under 11 – Amy Thewlis BRONZE
Level 5 under 13 – Liadh Cruise SILVER
Level 7 over 13 – Shannon Quinn SILVER, Lucy Gillmor BRONZE
The above gymnasts will go on to represent South Dublin at the finals on 15th and 16th February.
Also competing at the final will be the following gymnasts who competed in the new “plus” levels and achieved the qualifying scores for the final:

Hi everyone, due to the fire over the weekend in the Oxigen plant in Ballymount, there are some road closures in the area. Gym classes will continue as normal in Ballymount but you will need to come via the Walkinstown roundabout end of Ballymount road. Thanks!!
