Celtic Cup 2012
A massive well done to all of the Irish team and of course our four Old Bawn gymnasts who competed at last weekends Celtic Cup competition. The girls had some really fantastic performances on the day and we are very proud of all of them. For our minors, Shauna Kelly and Katie O’Hara, it was their first time representing Ireland and by far their biggest competition to date. They held their nerve very well under the pressure with only a couple of minor errors. Shauna competed a full twist on the floor and tuck back on the beam for the first time which was a great achievment. F
or our juniors, Ali Kavanagh and Beth Gillmor, it was their last chance to compete at Celtic Cup – next year they will be age ineligible. Both girls pulled off some really nice performances landing tsuk vaults and clean bar routines. Beth achieved a personal best score on beam (10.8) with her rock solid routine that impressed the home crowd.
It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces in the audience and a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support all our wonderful Irish gymnasts. The atmosphere at the competition was warm and encouraging and hopefully now the girls can continue to improve and increase their skill level for the next competition which will be the Irish National Apparatus finals in May.
Well done to all involved.
